Rob Shelquist is a partner at Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, where he focuses on the firm’s consumer protection and antitrust litigation. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Shelquist has represented individuals, small businesses, and corporations in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including defective and mispriced products, securities and ERISA, anti-competitive conduct, privacy, and other statutory violations related to the sale of goods and services. His expertise also spans fraud, misrepresentations, and the use of sharp business practices.
Mr. Shelquist has served as court-appointed counsel for plaintiffs and played a pivotal role as one of the trial attorneys in two national class actions tried to verdict. In Peterson v. BASF Corp., he contributed significantly to securing a judgment in excess of $60 million after a jury verdict, multiple state appellate opinions, and two trips to the U.S. Supreme Court.
He has been named Lead, Executive Committee, Plaintiff Steering Committee, and Committee Chair in complex litigation in both federal and state courts across the United States. Over the course of his career, Mr. Shelquist has led cases resulting in close to $1 billion in recoveries through judgment and settlement.
A 1987 graduate of the University of California at Berkeley with a double major in Legal Studies and Political Science (with high honors), Mr. Shelquist was elected to the Golden Key Society. He earned his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1990, graduating cum laude. He continues to share his knowledge by lecturing at continuing legal education events, contributing to the leadership of the consumer section of the Bar Association, and being an active member of the working group for Standards and Best Practices at the Duke Law Center for Judicial Studies.
In addition to his extensive litigation experience, Mr. Shelquist is a committed member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the Federal Bar Association, and the Minnesota State Bar Association. His involvement in these organizations reflects his dedication to advancing the legal profession and advocating for consumer rights.
