CHARLES BARRETT is a partner at Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca, where he leads the product liability practice area. Joining the firm in 2025, Charles brings decades of experience litigating in state and federal courts across the country, as well as representing multinational corporations in complex commercial disputes.
Charles has been instrumental in several high-profile cases, including:
- Hale v. State Farm (N.D. Ill. 2016): As part of the plaintiffs’ counsel, Charles contributed to a certified class action alleging State Farm secretly supported a state supreme court candidate to reverse a $1.05 billion judgment against the insurer.
- J.P. Morgan v. Boram Bank (S.D.N.Y. 1998): Charles represented Korean-based Boram Bank in a $189 million lawsuit against J.P. Morgan involving failed total return and cross-currency swaps.
- Katrina Insurance Fraud Litigation (S.D. Miss. 2005): Charles served as co-counsel for hundreds of policyholders pursuing bad faith claims against insurers for mishandling claims after Hurricane Katrina, resulting in favorable settlements.
- Kaiser Health v. Pfizer (D. Mass. 2009): As part of the trial team, Charles helped secure a $140 million RICO verdict against Pfizer for fraudulent marketing of the drug Neurontin.
Beyond the courtroom, Charles is dedicated to community service. He has served on the board of directors of the Martha O’Bryan Center, a highly respected Nashville nonprofit supporting underprivileged families. At home, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and their five children.
