C. WILLIAM FRICK joined CGL in 2019 following 18 years with a large multinational law firm and 11 years in the Maryland General Assembly. In private practice, Mr. Frick has represented clients facing government investigations, in class action litigation, and in state administrative matters.
During his career, Mr. Frick:
represented individuals harmed by a large pharmaceutical company’s manipulation of its drug portfolio to maximize profit at the expense of patients’ health;
advanced a novel class action on behalf of borrowers who were being charged excessive interest rates on consumer debt;
defended clients facing high-profile and politically-charged investigations by State Attorneys General;
assisted a technology company with resolving assertions of retroactive tax liability by state governments; and
advanced the interests of pro bonocauses and clients, including the victims of a racially-motivated arson in Charles County, MD.
As a state legislator, Mr. Frick represented more than 100,000 residents of Montgomery County, Maryland in the House of Delegates. Mr. Frick served in the House Leadership, first as House Parliamentarian and later as House Majority Leader. Mr. Frick advanced a number of important and innovative initiatives, including the Maryland Clean Energy Jobs Act to enhance use of renewable energy, the Maryland Small Business Retirement Savings Program to provide retirement security for small business workers, and the Tax Credit Evaluation Act to ensure the efficacy of taxpayer-funded subsidy programs.
During his time in the legislature, Mr. Frick won various awards and recognitions including the “Climate Champion” award from the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, the “Green Champion” award from the League of Conservation Voters, and was named “Consumer Champion” by the Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition. Mr. Frick was named “Best Local Politician” by the readers of Washingtonian magazine.
Mr. Frick resides in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife and two children.
