C. WILLIAM FRICK joined CGL in 2019 following 18 years with a large multinational law firm, Akin Gump, and 11 years in the Maryland General Assembly.In private practice, Mr. Frick has represented clients facing government investigations, in class action litigation, and in state administrative matters.
During his career, Mr. Frick:
led the defense of a Fortune 50 company in an investigation by federal authorities using newly-granted authority for the first time, successfully concluding the matter confidentially and without penalty;
defended clients facing high-profile and politically-charged investigations by State Attorneys General;
assisted a technology company with resolving assertions of retroactive tax liability by state governments;
took part in a trial before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims on behalf of a Native American tribe, advancing trust claims that ultimately led to a settlement worth more than $300 million;
advanced the interests of pro bono causes and clients, including the victims of a racially-motivated arson in Charles County, MD.
As a state legislator, Mr. Frick represented more than 100,000 residents of Montgomery County, Maryland in the House of Delegates.Mr. Frick served in the House Leadership, first as House Parliamentarian and later as House Majority Leader.During his time in the legislature, Bill won various awards and recognitions for his leadership on environmental and consumer matters, including the“Climate Champion” award from the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, “Green Champion” award from the League of Conservation Voters, and “Consumer Champion” by the Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition.Mr. Frick was named “Best Local Politician” by the readers of Washingtonian magazine.
Mr. Frick resides in Bethesda, Maryland, with his wife Bethany and two children Katie and Charlie.
