Beatrice O. Yakubu joined Cuneo Gilbert & LaDuca in 2011. Ms. Yakubu’s practice focuses primarily on consumer protection, tort litigation, and products liability. Ms. Yakubu’s experience includes motion practice in federal court, conducting and defending depositions, and managing discovery. She is dedicated to representing individuals who have been injured by dangerous products and deceptive marketing and trade practices. Ms. Yakubu has played an integral role in investigating and litigating a variety of consumer protection violations, which have resulted in significant settlements for consumers.
Ms. Yakubu’s representative matters include developing case theories and class action suits against numerous third-party energy suppliers that have defrauded thousands of unsuspecting consumers with bait-and-switch schemes regarding their energy supply contracts. Ms. Yakubu has also developed cases against financial institutions that have engaged in practices that deprived consumers of access to their money, and multinational corporations that have utilized deceptive marketing and advertising. To date, the cases she has initiated at CGL have acquired over $60M in settlements for consumers.
Ms. Yakubu currently represents clients in a mass tort litigation against Monsanto, the company that created the popular weed killer Roundup. Roundup’s main ingredient, glyphosate, has been found to cause cancer after prolonged exposure.
During law school, Ms. Yakubu clerked at the United States Attorney’s Office, where she concentrated on white collar criminal offenses.
Prior to law school, Ms. Yakubu worked as a Specialist in Investigations for Child Protective Services, where she was responsible for investigating child abuse and neglect claims as well as assisting with family preservation and reunification.
